A night in Naivasha or Elementaita is more than a convenient break in the road. It changes
the pace of a seven-day Kenya safari, giving travelers time to rest between Ol Pejeta and the
Masai Mara.

Naivasha or Elementaita?

Lake Naivasha is popular for lakeside lodges, birdlife, and optional boat experiences.
Elementaita offers a quieter Rift Valley atmosphere and easy access to established lodge
properties. The best choice depends on room availability, group preferences, and the final
route into the Mara.

A typical stopover

After breakfast in Ol Pejeta, the group checks out and drives roughly five hours into the
Rift Valley. Arrival is planned around lunch. The afternoon is intentionally light so guests
can enjoy the lodge, gardens, views, or an optional local activity.

Why the slower afternoon matters

Safari itineraries can become exhausting when every hour is filled. This stop protects the
quality of the Masai Mara experience by allowing travelers to arrive there rested and ready
for game drives.

Accommodation examples

The Recon Travels itinerary uses Naivasha Sopa or a similar property in one tier, and
Elementaita Serena or a similar property in the higher tiers. Final hotels are confirmed
according to availability.
